But it’s not just about the lights the band members strive to recreate the music the best that they can. “I guess we made the correct choice,” Gorman says, “because we’ve been steadily growing and getting more gigs and bigger gigs as the years have gone on.”Įventually, Interstellar Echoes would incorporate one of Pink Floyd’s signature live trademarks: a massive laser light show to go along with the songs. And then on top of that, me and Chris are just huge, huge deep Pink Floyd fans.”Īs it turns out, going full Floyd was the right idea. So we thought it was more marketable rather than being a variety classic rock band. In Atlanta there’s a big tribute-band scene there were very, very good tribute bands in Atlanta and we kind of popped up at the same time as a lot of those guys. We had seen (fellow tribute band) Australian Pink Floyd, and Brit Floyd was touring the world. “Well, we started playing basically classic rock but a lot of Pink Floyd because we were big fans,” Gorman says, “and it just sounded really good and solid. That was the nucleus of what eventually became Interstellar Echoes. That all changed back in 2014 when Hinson and Gorman came back together and met drummer Mike Altis. This is a band that has honed its tribute to one of the biggest, most iconic rock bands of all time to a precise, you-are-there recreation of the music.
